Those Mean Monsters!

Jack has been having some nightmares lately. He seems to think there are monsters who come in his room (Monsters Inc. is not the best movie to show two year olds!) Anyway, last night he had a pretty bad dream and was hard to calm down. I ended up bringing him in our room and rocking him a bit. Here was a bit of our conversation:

Me: Did you have a bad dream?
Jack: Yes!
Me: What was in your dream?
Jack: Monsters!
Me: Were they scary?
Jack: They were to me!
Me: What did they say to you?
Jack: No more monkeys jumping on the bed!

So apparently, Jack is scared by monsters who tell him what to do. I wonder if these monsters resemble his parents because we spend most of the day telling him not to do stuff.

After we talked, he settled down and fell asleep on my lap. It has been a long time since that has happened. It was hard not to think about how big he is getting since the two of us barely fit in the chair together. It was really wonderful to have that time with him and hard to put him back in his bed. Now that he is almost three, potty trained, and always on the move, Jack really seems like a big boy. Sometimes, I miss the little snuggler he was.

Okay that picture almost brought tears to my eyes! I miss those day too :( Something you might try...... Get a spray bottle with water in it and label it monster spray. Then let Jack spray it around his room before bed!
