Thank Goodness for Drool

The picture is a bit blurry but we wanted to show you Jack's talent of blowing bubbles in his drool. He has gotten pretty good at it but this was his biggest bubble so far. Normally we wouldn't be so excited about drool but last night, Jack's drool saved us a long night in the E.R. Earlier in the night Jack and I had been playing on the floor and, now that he can crawl, he was all over the place. I noticed him coughing a little and so I gave him some water. At that point he started to choke on something. I whacked him on the back a few times to get it out and started to panic a little. Long story short, Christian broke speed records to get home and the paramedics came by. Of course, as soon as they came, Jack was acting normal and they didn't see anything. As soon as they left he started to choke on something again and we drove to the E.R. As we were sitting waiting for a nurse Christian remarked that Jack sure was drooling a lot more than normal. I looked over and saw a piece of clear plastic in his drool. They made us stay a while to make sure he was ok, but were pretty sure that the plastic had been the problem. Anyway, thank goodness for drool and that it helped clear the plastic from his mouth. It could have been a much longer and scarier night than it was.

Ok, I am standing...now what do I do?

So I don't have a picture for this because I would have had to take one in the dark, but I will try to get a picture later. I put Jack to bed tonight but heard noises coming from his room pretty soon after I left. He sounded a little upset and so I opened the door and peeked in. Jack was standing up in his crib, which is a first for him. He was holding on to the side for dear life and his legs looked like he was doing the hula. He was so determined to stand that he didn't think about what would happen once he got up there. Rather than fall onto his backside he just held on and whimpered until I came in. So I laid him down, but a few minutes later I heard the same whimper and caught him standing again! Good thing we already lowered his mattress. Life is going to get a lot more hectic with him crawling and standing!

Cheeky Baby

Now that Jack can move around pretty well, he has been getting into a lot of mischief !

He loves to empty out his toy basket and climb inside.

He LOVES to take our movies off the shelf, especially after I have just put them back for the fourth or fifth time that day.

At least he loves his books! That gives us some hope

Favorite Jack Video

This is my (Christian's) favorite video of Jack. Its a month or so old, but I thought y'all would enjoy it. Sorry about the lousy quality, I had to compress it down so it wouldn't take forever to load.

So Very Sleepy

Jack's sleepy eyes...

Snuggling on a Sunday afternoon

Our once wonderful sleeper has had a rough time lately. He has been waking up during the night more than he did as an infant and so Christian and I have been a little sleep deprived. As a result, we have had sleep on our minds a whole lot! Luckily for me, I am done working this week and will get to take naps when Jack does, instead of trying to answer emails. I can't wait! Tonight, Jack and I were sitting in the rocking chair with the lights out trying to get settled down. I had left the door cracked and Jack was fixated on the light coming in. Finally after trying to wrestle him into a snuggle position, I gave up and put him on the carpet. He proceeded to roll over to the door and with his momentum pushed it shut. Then for the next two or three minutes he just kept trying to roll through the door. Even with his limited mobility he was trying to get away from bed time. It made me laugh to see his determination and also made me amazed at how much he has grown and learned in the last eight months! When he learns how to talk and walk in the next few months, bed time should be even more fun!

Little Chef

This video is mostly for Lucy's viewing pleasure, we thought we'd post a video of Jack helping Mary in the kitchen. Well, helping isn't the right work, more like grabbing anything in sight and putting it in his mouth. Yeah, thats a little more accurate.

Basketball game

We went down to Provo on Saturday to see a BYU basketball game, and had a good time. Jack wanted an intimidating hairstyle, to psyche out the other team, but on the drive down he got some pretty bad "car seat hair" (similar to bedhead), and the spikeyness and intimidation factor diminished... a lot... so he ended up looking like his usual smiley self. We had a great time, and Mary snapped some nice artistic pictures of the scenery, since it was such a nice day. I included one of the victory bell which, of course, rang loudly after we stomped New Mexico.

Cribs

Jack has discovered how much fun it is to stand. Its his new favorite thing to do. This is not a set up, by the way. Looks like we're going to have to lower his mattress...

Riding on Daddy's Shoulders

Jack loves to ride on his dad's shoulders. He giggles and chews on Christian's hair. It's a good thing that Christian forgot to get his hair cut today so that Jack had something to hold on to!

Sweater Weather

It has been pretty cold and snowy here lately but I think it is wonderful. The mountains are really beautiful all covered in snow. Also, any excuse to be cozy and warm in a sweater is fine by me. Thanks for Jack's cute sweater Aunt Emily!

Jack is standing!

Well, for about half a second, long enough to snap the pic before I caught him. By the way, Mary and Lizanne were not around when me and Stuart had the "standing baby" photo shoot. No babies were harmed in the making of these photos
