Birthday / Father's Day Celebration

We had a great Father's Day / Mary's Birthday yesterday. Sorry you had to share it Mary, but I appreciated the breakfast in bed, and I hope you liked your birthday dinner. Mary gave me a great picture to put on my desk at work, thanks Christin for taking it. Now, if only we could get Anna to smile once in a while.

The Babies In Our Outfits

Some of you might remember that we dressed Jack in one of Christian's baby outfits. That is Christian on the left and Jack on the right. I think there is some good family resemblance there. Well we did the same with Anna when my Mom sent down one of my old dresses. We don't really look all that much alike in these baby shots but then again, I don't look much like my old baby picture anyway.

This is me

Anna was not really thrilled about his photo shoot. Couldn't really get her to smile but she makes a good serious baby model :)

Moab Bike Trip 2009

Well, I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures of the bike trip I went on at the end of May. We rode the White Rim Trail, the same ride as last year with the same group of guys from work and had a blast. I won't post a ton of pictures because they look a lot like last year's, but we had a great time, and this year no one broke their collarbone! Yaay.

Here's a picture of a little bike project I've been working on. I've started taking the bus to work, and the bus stop is about 1.5 miles away from our house. I got tired of walking to it, so decided to get an old clunker that I could ride to the stop and load on the sketchy bike racks that the busses have. I found this sweet old road bike from DI for $20, and have cleaned it up, stripped off the derailleurs, cables and junk and replaced the handlebars, pedals, crank. I also recovered the old black seat with some matching white vinyl , and painted the white parts on the fork and rear chainstay. Now I just need a new rear wheel with a fixed gear to complete, but so far she works great! I've spent around $65 so far, which isn't bad.

Goofy Kids

Jack typically wears a pajama shirt to bed, but he only wanted the shorts on and then proceeded to get his hat and boots. We'll have to work on his fashion sense at some point!

Jack is 2!

Hmmm... how does that candle taste?

Since we already posted our pictures of Jack at his party, here is one that our friend Kattrina took. I also thought I would share some fun stories of Jack since today is his actual 2nd birthday. Most of you know that it took Jack a while to start talking, but now he has become a little parrot. His new favorite phrase is "Oh my gosh." I must have said it enough when he made a mess while eating, because now he says it for me when I see the pile of mashed up food on his tray. He just looks up and says "Oh my gosh" over and over with a concerned look on his face, like he knows he messed up and can't believe it. It's pretty cute and makes it easier for me not to get frustrated while cleaning it up. He spent the last few months being obsessed with clocks and now he is into flags as well. When we are driving he points them out and loves to find the big flags the car dealerships. He says "Ohhhh big flag" and as we drive away says "Bye Bye big flag." He also loves looking for the letters in the alphabet while we are driving. Everytime we drive past a church with a cross on top, he says "Big T! Big T!" At some point I will explain the difference. Jack is talking so much that I have even heard him talking in his sleep about his toy puppy. It is a wonderful change from the point and grunt technique he used for the last year! It is crazy how much his personality has developed as well. He has been a wonderful brother to Anna so far. He gets her binky when she cries and loves to make her smile. He is pretty adventurous but is also a little clumsy and trips over his own feet while he walks. He loves to be read to and to snuggle before bed. All in all, Jack is a wonderful little boy and we sure love him!

6 Months Already?!!

It is crazy how fast time flies when you are a little sleep deprived! Anna is now 6 months old and is a smiley, chatty, happy baby. Getting used to two kids has been a challenge, but it has been wonderful watching Anna grow and become such an important part of our little family.

Birthday Party!

Here are some pictures and a video from Jack's second birthday party. We had a combined party with his friend Ethan, who is five days older. The weather was pretty nice and the kids had a good time playing and eating. Here are some pictures that we took. Sorry if some are a little blurry. I didn't think you could take blurry pictures outside during the day, but here they are anyway! Kattrina (Ethan's Mom) took some really fantastic pictures and you can find them by clicking here and here.

Our Big Boy

Jack has graduated to a big boy bed. He loved it from the first night we put him in it. It took him a few days to figure out that he could get out once he was in it, and he has done pretty well. Next step- move Anna from the bassinet to the crib and get her sleeping well enough to put them in the room together. I can't wait for a little bit more sleep!

The Zoo

We went to the zoo two weeks ago, but our camera was out of batteries, and I was too lazy to post the pictures any other way. So here they are now. We had a really nice morning and had a lot of fun seeing all the animals and playing with friends.

This is Jack's favorite friend Kylie. He calls her Ky Ky and loves to follow her around. She is awfully patient with him and held his hand while we were at the zoo.

Jibber Jabber

I caught Jack and Anna entertaining each other in the kitchen. Not sure what they were talking about but they seemed to enjoy it. Sorry for the shaky camera work, I was trying hard not to laugh.

New Tricks

Here are some tricks the kids have been working on:

Standing Up (with a little help)

Folding into a ball (her feet are actually quite small in real life- they look huge here!)

Wearing Daddy's hat

Jack likes to fix his own hair now by mushing up food and water on his tray and putting it in his hair. He is getting quite good at it which is not very fun for me!

He looks stuck here but he can also get in and out of his old bouncer by himself.

Jack's New Obsession

His first introduction to the world of Harry Potter

The other day I was looking at a magazine with a preview of summer movies. Jack came over and kept saying "Ha Po" over and over. I looked around, not knowing what he meant, and noticed a picture of Harry Potter. Since neither Christian or I had spent anytime teaching him who Harry Potter was I figured it was a coincidence. Not so, this kid knows his Harry Potter. He can pick him out pretty quickly (must be the glasses!) and has even started to ask to watch the movies, which at this point are a little beyond his understanding and scariness level. Good thing I started exposing him to the books at such a young age. It is wonderful to have another Hogwarts lover in the house.
